I’m afraid it is time for this experiment to end as I am no longer motivated to continue. If you’re on a similar journey, I wish you well. Previous content will be removed on or around 2/28. -Kris
Seeking Fellow Fat Guy
You read that right. I’m officially seeking a fellow fat guy for a long-distance relationship (romance unwanted and unnecessary). Here’s the thing…The Apple Watch has a nifty feature which I know little of. I’m essentially only aware of its existence: Sharing Rings. It’s just another form of accountability and I believe the goal is to add people you know so you’ll have a whole new way to judge your friends. I intend to look into this tomorrow and see if there’s a way to be matched with a similar human walking a similar path....
Week 7 Closes Without A Bang
Another week with no dramatic weight loss makes for a boring update. I keep telling myself not to let the scale bring me down, but I’d be lying if I said it wasn’t challenging. Today Brook Lynn gave me a bit of a pep talk (she’s good at those) and it left me feeling quite a bit better. Another thing that helped me feel better was trying on a former favorite shirt that I haven’t been able to wear for some time....
Missing My Movement
That title might sound constipation related (common topic amongst the keto crowd), but it’s not. I’m actually referring to my daily walks. I used my core exercise sessions as a replacement yesterday, but it turns out I’ve grown accustomed to this whole fresh air thing I’m always hearing about. After I finished work, it was dark and a bit chilly, but I went for it anyway. The stars were bright which made me enjoy the darkness and tolerate the cold....
My New Favorite Keto Friendly Sub
The real trick to sticking with keto is finding good substitutes. It’s not (at least, it doesn’t have to be) a starvation diet. You don’t have to deal with hunger, but you do have to deal with cravings - which is what gets most overweight people into the shape they’re in. I can’t even remember the last time I heard my stomach growl. I don’t get hungry…I get cravings, I get bored, I get happy when I eat, but I don’t get hungry....
Rest And Recovery
After my workout at 9Round, I felt great! Today…not so much. I probably could have struggled through something, but it just seemed like a good time to take a recovery day. I will be back at it tomorrow. The plan is to start with a core workout in the morning (after Brook goes to work…she don’t need to see that) followed by some strength training in the evening. I most likely won’t be taking any outdoor walks for a couple of days....
Still Kickin' After 9 Rounds
It’s been a while since I’ve posted a video update, but it seemed appropriate for today. I wanted you to get a look at my red face and sweat soaked hair so you know I put in some work. I haven’t yet watched the video, but I’m pretty sure I didn’t give an explanation of what the 9 round workout is all about; so real quick: There are 9 stations....
Magic Beans
There are entire food genres that essentially need to be abandoned on Keto, e.g. Mexican, Italian, and Asian. I’m sure each have dishes that are acceptable on a Ketogenic diet, but certainly none of my favorites. Italian food without pasta or bread? Asian food without noodles and sugary sauces (at least in the Americanized version)? When it comes to Mexican, there are low-carb tortillas available at almost every major grocer, but there’s still a problem (well, two actually): No beans or rice....
What's Killing My Water Intake
Prior to starting this journey, I had quite the Diet Mt. Dew addiction. I gave it up because of all of the horrible things people had told me about the artificial sweetner it uses, Aspartame. There is a lot of misinformation surrounding this substance and plenty of articles (such as this one) that debunk most of it. Still, I can’t help but think that if one must have a fizzy beverage, one sweetened with Stevia is a better choice....
