Achievement Unlocked

I know it’s a stupid milestone, but I’ve been stuck at 227 and change for weeks now. Today I clocked in at 225.6. Stupid…but motivating. The teens are not far away and I plan for those to go a little quicker. I mentioned that I thought I had some muscle gain, and yesterday I had evidence as I had to fight with my jeans to get them over my calves. Sadly, my legs are the only thing that have really gotten a workout, but that will be changing soon…I think....

So Much For The Gym

Disclosure: I’m not the man in the picture. 1 I posted yesterday about joining a gym, but after researching 2 of the 3 available in my area (within a few miles from my house), I decided to take a pass. Planet Fitness requires you to provide them with a bank account number, not just a debit card. I worked for a large bank for a while and learned the difficulty of canceling an ACH transfer....

The Quest for Keto Bread

The dog in the cover photo does not exist. 1 It’s just something made to resemble a dog. The more you look at it, the more you realize its shortcomings. It’s a poor facsimile of the real thing…Which leads me to another thing that doesn’t exist: Keto bread that tastes like actual bread. At least, not that I’ve found. Here in Billings, shopping options are limited. There are only a few brands available and they range from flavorless dish sponge, to wet dog flavored dish sponge (the latter being anything made with Almond Flour)....

Building New Routines

My daily walk has become routine. Routines are good for me (positive ones, anyway), so I’m trying to intentionally build some new ones. I’m not organized by nature, but these days that’s okay. There are simply too many tools available to make excuses. I know for some people, organization, strict schedules, and routines come naturally. Not so for me (and many like me). For me, I have to have a system in place....

My New Old Hoodie

My scale seems to be stuck. I fluctuate between 227 and 228. I’ve been out of the 230’s for long enough that I don’t think I’ll be seeing them again, but I’m really ready to get on the other side of 225. I do think that I’m gaining muscle. After Covid, my lungs were not great. In fact, they weren’t great for months. The slightest bit of exertion (like walking from the bedroom to the kitchen) would have me breathing hard....

Starting Week 6

As promised, back on the daily supplements plus one men’s multi-vitamin. Tomorrow, I’ll not only be starting my day with a good amount of capsules filled with all natural things that I don’t understand the scientific benefits of, but I’ll also start with some sort of heart revving cardio workout from the Fitness+ app. I remember seeing a documentary on Nova a few years ago about these Australian (maybe?) doctors (I think) who claimed that a morning sprint (not run… sprint …as fast as you can) could be more beneficial than a gym membership....

Fixing My Mistake

As predicted, the weather was good, but still too cold for my daughter to be outdoors, so I settled for a solo walk around the neighborhood. Full disclosure: I’m feeling pretty run down, and I think I know why. I started this journey taking supplements, but I didn’t want to take them on my trip to Spokane and have not yet resumed taking them. I’ll fix that tomorrow. A Note About Keto I feel like I’m setting a bad example....

Forget About Friday

Today did not go as planned, but I’ll spare you most of my complaining and just hit the highlights Due to technical issues, work tasks took longer than normal My walk was too short For some reason I chose to wear some sort of mesh fabric dress shoe on a winter walk in Montana I did not do my core exercises So, there’s the bad stuff…BUT - I didn’t screw up my eating....

Physical Therapy Day 1

Today is day one of physical therapy to thaw my frozen shoulder. I’ve never had any sort of PT, so I’m still undecided as to whether or not I need professional guidance, or if this is a problem solved by repeatedly doing some exercises I can see demonstrated on YouTube. I also kept my promise and did a core workout this morning, plus a 2 mile walk (all before 1 p....

The Stretch is Over

Today is February 1st and I’m feeling good about some things: I’m 10lbs down I’ve eat a ketogenic diet since 1/1 I’ve missed ONE day of exercising I have updated this blog daily So what’s next? The same thing, but more of it. I’m calling January “The Stretch”. It was the warm up before the exercise - me trying to get my body accustomed to movement again. I consumed roughly 1,200 calories today....
