My scale seems to be stuck. I fluctuate between 227 and 228. I’ve been out of the 230’s for long enough that I don’t think I’ll be seeing them again, but I’m really ready to get on the other side of 225.

I do think that I’m gaining muscle. After Covid, my lungs were not great. In fact, they weren’t great for months. The slightest bit of exertion (like walking from the bedroom to the kitchen) would have me breathing hard.

During those few months, I got into the habit of working mostly from my bed. Going all the way down to my basement office just seemed too much to handle, and for a while, it was. The problem is that when things started to improve, I still didn’t move much. I think I had quite a bit of muscle atrophy.

So today, the scale gave me the same number…227. 😡 No joy. BUT, later in the day when I was forced to put on a shirt for a Zoom meeting (they’re particular about wearing shirts), I grabbed a hoodie from the closet. This particular hoodie was given to me by Brook several months ago - long enough that I’m not certain when she gave it to me. I do remember the first time I tried it on. I wore it for about 3 seconds…long enough to know the tag was missing an “X”. Today, it fit perfectly. I mean, it’s probably going to be one of those things that I wear so often that Brook will start to hate it. I don’t care. It fits. I’m happy. F**k you, scale. 👊

The weather today felt like the beginning of Spring. I know it’s not. I know there are more sub-zero days coming before winter is through with us, but I was definitely looking forward to today’s walk and I enjoyed every minute of it. I know I could have done another mile if my schedule would have allowed it.
