My daily walk has become routine. Routines are good for me (positive ones, anyway), so I’m trying to intentionally build some new ones.

I’m not organized by nature, but these days that’s okay. There are simply too many tools available to make excuses. I know for some people, organization, strict schedules, and routines come naturally. Not so for me (and many like me). For me, I have to have a system in place. I’ll spare you the nerdy details of the system I use (it’s high-level nerd), but I wanted to share that I’m making other changes in my life that don’t directly relate to physical health. If you’re trying to adopt real changes (as opposed to going on a diet), why not go all out?

The description of this blog says that I’m documenting my journey into “better fitness, finances, and faith”. I just wanted to make it clear that I have been working on those other things as well. When the time is right, I’ll add the appropriate categories so you can ignore or consume whatever you’re interested in.

I’m getting married soon (in May, I think…Brook Lynn hasn’t given me all the details. I only know that it’s happening this year and I am not permitted to wear a bolo tie). I think when you commit to sharing a life with someone, you should make some sort of effort to be the best version of you. I suppose you should just do that anyway, but I certainly have not. If I’m a better person, we’ll have a better life together. As an added bonus, she will be less likely to leave me and take most of my things.

The short version: I’m paying off debt, buying less “stuff”, certainly dining out less, and going to church each week.

If you’re on a similar fitness journey, don’t neglect the other parts of your life. If you’re financially solvent and spiritually resolved (or not spiritual at all), find some way to make yourself better. I think it adds to your perceived self worth which keeps you motivated to make progress.

Brook and I took a walk through the neighborhood around 9 p.m. It was a pleasant walk. Lot’s of great talk about life, work, and cryptocurrency. It was not however a great night for photographs. The moon was big and bright, but my iPhone couldn’t seem to capture it (when in doubt, blame the equipment).
