If you think a title like “Focus On The Wins” is just preparing you for the reality that there are some things not going my way, you’re a smart one. Tomorrow is the day I post my week 2 results. Of course, like you, the weight is the thing I tend to notice most. Well, I don’t think I moved the needle much this week, but I have some great things to keep me motivated:

  1. I achieved my goal of taking at least a 2 mile walk every day this week.
  2. I have more energy than I’ve had in a long time.
  3. I’m sleeping better than I have in a long time (that’s a big deal for this long-time insomniac)

So, even though I had hoped to be well into the 220’s by tomorrow, I’m not going to let the scale bring me down. What I’m doing is good for me, and I know it. If you’re on a similar journey, don’t base your success on one metric…you have to look at the whole picture.

Speaking of pictures, the cover photo on this post is one I took today. In order to get to this monument placed by “The Class of ‘56”, (some Sanford and Son version of Christ The Redeemer?) I had to walk down a steep, dirt path that I probably wouldn’t have attempted just a short while ago. It was nice coming back up the hill without having to stop to catch my breath. That’s a win!

Another walk around Lake Elmo today. It was getting dark by the time I started and the wind was unpleasant, but I couldn’t break my streak.

Still not doing great with water intake, but I’m working on it. I may have to resort to setting reminders on my phone, watch, computer, and anything else that has the power to annoy me at preset intervals.
