When I said I wouldn’t do Keto forever, some would likely assume that I’ve already failed…just making another trip on the Yo-Yo. I think the problem that I’ve had is not having a proper transition plan. This time, I’ll get it right.

Keto is a deprivation diet. You deprive yourself of a certain category of foods which is comprised of both healthy and unhealthy options. It’s not just cakes, pies, pasta, and tacos that you’re giving up, but also many fruits and vegetables that are typically associated with a healthy diet. Many people find it nearly impossible to completely eliminate these foods from their diet long term.

The trap you can easily fall into when you try to transition from Keto to a healthy, balanced diet is this feeling of wanting to have everything you couldn’t previously have. “Oh wow, pizza! I haven’t had that in forever." “Hey, I haven’t had a chocolate shake in months!"…. And the list goes on and on.

I have a long way to go before I can think about consuming foods outside of the Keto plan, but I’m already adjusting my mindset to do well when that day comes. I’ll spend many months learning to manage this and will likely ask one of those people who go to school for a long time to make some recommendations.

The cover photo is my wonderful Brook Lynn at Hell’s Kitchen in Las Vegas. We had our best and most expensive lunch, ever. Like all women, she is put in a giddy mood by Gordon Ramsay. Look how happy she is.

We love delicious food and I would like to reach a point where we can occasionally go out to eat and enjoy a meal like this without feeling guilty about it. At $175 bucks a person, I don’t think Hell’s Kitchen will become a habit.

I said I wouldn’t pay attention to the weight loss numbers this early, but it’s not easy. Gotta remember it’s a long game. Even though my scale is being a jerk, my smart watch is amazed at my change in movement. I’m surprised it hasn’t reported itself stolen. If you’re having one of those weeks, hang in there!
