My right shoulder has been bothering me for about eight months and now I know why. I have Frozen Shoulder, a.k.a. Adhesive Capsulitis. I’m not in constant pain, which I am grateful for, but the pain can go from 0 to blackout level with one wrong move (ask me how I know.) I can get it slightly above parallel and no more. Kind of a marching zombie position, I guess.
The prognosis is non-surgical…Some anti-inflammatory meds and physical therapy. I’m happy to hear that it isn’t more serious, but the length of time to “thaw” a frozen shoulder is substantial - 12 to 18 months.
I should mention that this condition becomes more likely in someone with Diabetes…which means, I probably wouldn’t have gotten in the first place had I lead a different lifestyle. I say that not just to express regret, but to perhaps inspire someone who has not yet gotten type 2 Diabetes, but is perhaps on the path, to do what it takes to avoid it. Blindness, amputation, heart disease, and a myriad of other nasty things, should be a good motivator.
On the bright side, when I do my first P.T. session (2/2), I can ask about acceptable upper-body exercises that will help (or at least not further injure) my condition.

I love that I get so much support from everybody. I had lots of work to get done today and I ran out of daylight before it was finished. I also had to get dinner going, so I just decided I’d do the walk after dinner. Honestly, I wanted to skip it… The “I’ll just do two tomorrow when it’s not dark and 21 degrees,” the kind of stuff I was mentioning above…Rationalization. I just don’t want you to get the idea that I’ve already transformed myself into Slim Goodbody…I still have to make myself do this (at times). Of course, having the family with me makes it a lot easier, fun, and somehow less tiring…It doesn’t seem like exercise anymore.
