I’m enjoying my walks around the neighborhood (sans the cold temps). Soon I will venture out for a change of scenery, but while I acclimate my body to more movement, sticking close to home seems smart.

I recently lost my cat of almost 15 years, Theo. I hadn’t really been a cat person before picking him up at the shelter, but he and I became good friends pretty quick.

Now that I’ve given up apartment life and have a decent-sized backyard, I’m thinking about adopting a dog. My daughter insists on a Husky, but I’m not so sure I’m on board with one of those noisy things (no offense to the Husky owners). I’m a fan of German Shepherds, but in reality, choosing a pet solely based on the breed is a bad idea. If I decide to come home with a dog, I’ll need to look it in the eyes first to see if we connect. I then need to look my fiancée in the eyes and see if she’ll let me have it. So far, she seems to be pro-dog, but anti-poop…not sure how to reconcile that.

For now, I’ll walk with my daughter when she is here and willing, with Brook (the afore mentioned fiancée) when she has a day off, or alone with my Airpods.

This post is dedicated to Theo the cat. I miss ya!

  1. Daily weigh-ins are probably not smart. They fluctuate quite a bit and can leave you scratching your head, wondering what you’ve done wrong. Weekly weigh-ins are psychologically better, but for my purposes, I will continue to log the daily numbers, but will ultimately make a weekly weigh in chart. ↩︎
