Week 1 Results

Week 1 is in the books! 🙌 I’ll keep this relatively short, but wanted to share a couple of things I’ve noticed already: I’m amazed by how quickly I’ve adjusted to my daily walk. The first day was a shock to my system. I was huffing, puffing, and trudging along for the entire mile. I’ve already seen a massive improvement in only one week. I had only one night of feeling exhausted (typical as you go into Ketosis and sometimes referred to as “Keto Flu”)....

Let's Not Do This Again

I hate to mention the “C” word since you’re likely sick of hearing about it…so I won’t. I’ll just tell you what happened to me because of it. I’m a pretty prime candidate for the bad kind of … that thing. Overweight, diabetic, sedentary (not sure if that’s on the list, but it’s a big contributor to the things that are). Superficial Motivation

Back in my very first post I listed my reasons for doing this in the first place: I need to set a better example for my 15 year old daughter I’m getting married this year I nearly died from Covid in 2021 Those are valid…they are true…And they make me sound like a much better human than I am. Walking Partner Needed

I’m enjoying my walks around the neighborhood (sans the cold temps). Soon I will venture out for a change of scenery, but while I acclimate my body to more movement, sticking close to home seems smart. I recently lost my cat of almost 15 years, Theo. I hadn’t really been a cat person before picking him up at the shelter, but he and I became good friends pretty quick. Now that I’ve given up apartment life and have a decent-sized backyard, I’m thinking about adopting a dog....

I'm No Pill-Pusher…But

I take the occasional aspirin for a headache (usually in powdered form, e.g. Goody’s), but other than that, I’m not much on pills. However, since the goal of this mission is more than just vanity (I’m well aware I’ll still have my same head), I’m going to try and treat my body better. I started to do some research, but quickly became bored and decided to go with some products recommended by someone I know and trust....

About This Site + Daily Update

This site is a work in progress. I have been trying to setup a workflow that allows me to make quick updates as easily as possible. Ironically, there is a lot of work involved in simplifying a process. For now, I make my updates in a single Emacs org-mode document. When I edit the document, the new content is automatically pushed to github, which is then ingested and hosted by Netlify and rendered using Hugo....

Public Notice: I Will Not Quit

Let’s start with a quick update on my life so far… No need for a lengthy bio, but it’s important that you know this: I was born in North Carolina and raised in Tennessee/Kentucky. My diet has been a mixture of classic southern food (fried this and that’s, and many casseroles based on mayonnaise and cheese), 80’s kid junk food (canned pasta, pizza rolls, etc.) and fast food. I’ll turn 48 this year and can no longer make fitness a someday goal....
